As a member of the Greenway Stewardship Program, you'll have the opportunity
to work with a highly successful team in an energetic, productive and fast-paced
stewardship program. Through extensive hands-on involvement in a wide variety of
community partnerships, public interactions and environmental education, you
will learn about ecological and recreational use issues on public open space
lands and build skills in public land management.
- Temporary, full-time, 12-month AmeriCorps position
- Crew is based from Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah, WA and works on
surrounding public land
- 8-10 hour workdays, regular weekend volunteer events
- Multiple 4 and 8-day spike camp projects over the late spring and summer
- High physical demand; must have ability to hike to semi-remote worksites,
carry heavy loads, move rocks, work in all weather and perform other heroic
tasks
Responsibilities:
The Corpsmember is responsible for the following:
- Work with other staff, the public and independently to complete
environmental restoration including: tree planting, invasive weed control,
logging road removal, erosion control/slope stabilization
- Work with other staff, the public and independently to complete trail work
including: trail maintenance (brushing, drainage, tread/structure repair) and
trail construction (clear/excavate, structures, signage, etc)
- Work with hand tools and power equipment
- Represent the Greenway, DNR and WCC by leading volunteer events and
providing public education
